It’s Raining Again

Two weeks of rain spoiled the start to the second half of the season. Last Saturday both Barrow teams suffered a complete washout for the second time this season.

On the previous week it was only possible to get some limited game time. The 2s in very sporting fashion managed to dodge the heavy showers and played in less that ideal conditions at Hobbs Lane against Pucklechurch.

The visitors batted for 27 overs in two stints and did well to post 209-2, the only highlight for Barrow being a first wicket for the club by Matt Edgar, stumped by Peter Rooney.

A promising opening partnership of 86 between Ellie Holdaway (39) and Linden Alway (35) gave Barrow some hope but when both fell close together, the innings stalled a little. Mark Gracey (26) and Paul Gard (21) batted brightly to pick up 3 batting points but the team fell 43 short.

Ellie Holdway top scored with 39 in between the rain.

There was frustration at Frenchay as Barrow Firsts had their opponents 95-5 when the covers came on after 19 overs, with Frank Forge having taken 3 of them, and that was it for the afternoon.
