Guy Fisher and Nick Heal won the traditional season-ending double wicket competition on Saturday at Hobbs Lane. Morning rain gave way to drizzle and the competition was played largely under leaden skies. As a result the attendance for the barbecue was down on most years.
However 9 teams of 2 managed to have an enjoyable day with the winners always a surprise with points always possible for all teams until the very end. With Ed Holdway taking 24 runs off one Ben Hodges over it appeared that may be enough to propel his team to victory but he had to settle for second as the all round batting, bowling and fielding of the all first team partnership won out in the end.
