Barrow Run Blagdon Close In Friendly

On Sunday Barrow Gurney hosted Blagdon in the second pre-season friendly.  Winning the toss Phil Milton asked Blagdon to bat; James Riley started really well only for the  skipper to drop Blagdon’s opener, Board, first over.  Luke Glazzard however finally got him for 39 with the score on 46.  Oscar Livesey accounted for the dangerous Moy on 46 with a superb catch from Luke on the boundary and Mark Fisher bowled well for getting 3 for 34.  Guy Fisher bowled equally well and was unlucky not to get a wicket (or two) due to a couple of drops in the field.  Blagdon were all out for 200 in 38.1 overs.

Ali Hood and Sam Turner started brightly putting on 48 before Ali went for LBW on 23.  Ben Skuse batted superbly for a run a ball 50 (retired not out including a massive straight 6!) leaving it to Fisher and Fisher to take us close, Guy scoring 44 and Mark 20.  Barrow fell 8 short as the run rate, previously under control, increased in the final overs.

Some good cricket but some things to improve as the season progresses.  Just what you’d expect from a preseason game!
