Barrow Firsts Unexpectedly Promoted

It was an unexpectedly happy start to the year as the club heard the news that our First XI have been promoted to Division 4 for the coming season. After finishing third in Division 5 last season, it seems that another team could not meet the facilities criteria of playing in the higher echelon of the League.  It is, however, only a fair reward for an excellent 2022 season when a couple of close games left the team feeling frustrated at slipping out of the automatic promotion places.

Barrow’s First XI at the last home game of the season

Congratulations to Frank Forge, Ed Holdaway and all last year’s First XI squad. Barrow will play recent division rivals Congresbury 2s, Uni Staff and Chilcompton as well as Frenchay 2s who went up with them. Local derbies with Blagdon, Long Ashton and Bristol 3s also await whilst St Mary Redcliffe and Winterbourne A complete the division. The club is confident that with Connor Jones and Jason Cryans at the helm,  they can more than hold their own in that division.

The 2nd XI remain in Division 13 and will play Abbots Leigh 2s, Bradley Stoke 4s, Hambrook 3s, Lansdown 3s, Midsommer Norton 3s, Oldfield Park, Pucklechurch2s, Thornbury 4s and Timsbury 3s.
