Accurate Bowling Sets Up Second’s Win Over Portishead

After some hard graft at Patchway last week Ellie Holdaway was determined to force a win against Barrow’s rivals from last season, Portishead. Barrow bowled first and all the bowlers bowled with incredible accuracy, meaning Portishead found it hard to score.

Mark Fisher (0/13) and Kieran Owen (1/11) bowled really well keeping the run rate down while also picking up an early wicket. They bowled their full 6 overs very consistently before giving way to Oscar Livesey (3/14) and Steve Owen (8-5-7-0), Steve worked hard keeping things tight at one end while Oscar was extremely successful at the other end, picking up 3 wickets from his 8 overs. Luke Glazzard (1/10) and Nick Heal (1/11) then finished off with some quicker bowling, and each picked up a wicket. Portishead finished up scoring only 70 for 7 off of 40 overs.

Guy Fisher was the talking point of the batting, ably knocking off the small total and scoring a prompt 50 not out in the process, he was supported by his skipper and later Mark Gracey (12 not out).

A brilliant win that puts Barrow 4th in the league. With Ellie away for two weeks, here’s hoping vice-captain Frank Forge can keep up the winning ways for the next fortnight.
