With the restriction on outdoor sport released, it was no surprise that Barrow’s cricketers flocked to the ground last week to enjoy some early net and fielding practice. The 23 degree temperature did no harm either in encouraging a good turn out.
What was incredibly impressive though was that 16 or so braved temperatures 20 degrees lower this week to continue their season’s preparations. All the while being careful to abide by groups of 6 and social distancing measures, there were 2 net groups on the go, whilst a fielding group sharpened up their skills on the outfield.
The ground is looking in the best condition yet for this time of year, and with a working party planned for Sunday afternoon to get the rest of the facilities ready, we hope to be set fair for the opening friendly fixture against Redcliffe on Saturday 17th April.
