Barrow Gurney Cricket Club are delighted that cricket will return to Hobbs Lane this weekend with friendly games on Saturday against Blagdon and, on Sunday, against Charlton Super Kings.
So much hard work has gone into making this possible. Barrow Chairman and groundsman, Pete Holdaway, has worked tirelessly to keep the ground in good condition during lockdown. Adam Brace has been re-decorating the pavilion, whilst Dave Milton and Mark Forge have been setting up the pavilion and surroundings to ensure that the Covid-19 requirements are met.
Having lost half a season, it is encouraging that so many of our players are keen to get back out on the field. They have all been alerted to the nuances of playing in a Covid-safe way and we are sure that they and our visitors will want to make sure they abide by all guidelines.
The weather is set fair and we cannot wait to get going in that most traditional of English pastimes – village cricket, just as Barrow Gurney have been playing for 146 years!
Look out on our website for a report of this weekend’s play.
