Lodway CC 1st XI cruised to a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Barrow Gurney CC 1st XI in the Tony Hitch Knockout Cup clash on a sunny Wednesday evening at Hobbs Lane.
Having won the toss, Lodway elected to field—and their bowlers didn’t disappoint. Despite a spirited 38 off 25 balls from Barrow’s captain Ed Holdaway and a solid 25 from Jordan Allen, the home side struggled to build lasting partnerships. A middle-order collapse saw Barrow lose four wickets for just 8 runs, collapsing from 78-2 to 86-6. The innings wrapped up at 102 all out in 18.5 overs.
Lodway’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Rimon Ahmed Hashim Ahmed (3-9) and Matthew Crutchley (3-8) doing the damage late in the innings. Barrow’s struggles were compounded by two run-outs in addition to the bowling wickets.
In reply, Lodway made light work of the chase. Opener Adam Robson top-scored with a brisk 31 from 24 balls, ably supported by Ryan Rice (18*) and Caolan Pearce (18* off just 10 balls), as they reached the target in just 12.4 overs.
Barrow managed to take two wickets—Frank Forge and Ed Holdaway picking up one apiece—but their bowlers failed to contain the flow of runs.
