Bohemians CC claimed a well-earned victory in a high-scoring midweek thriller, edging past Barrow Gurney CC by four runs in the T20 cup at Hobbs Lane.
Winning the toss and electing to field, Barrow Gurney were made to work hard as Bohemians posted a commanding 172/2 from their 20 overs. Aaron Powell starred with a classy 79 off 57 balls*, peppered with 10 fours and three sixes. He was well supported by Tom Ware (37) and a late surge from Nikhil Bhajipale (24* off 12), while Jordan Rogers chipped in with a rapid 29.
Despite wickets from Ben Hodges and Phil Taylor and a disciplined spell by Mark Fisher the home side struggled to contain the Bohemians’ top order.
Barrow’s reply was led by a superb unbeaten 80 off 48 balls from Samuel Mitchell, who cleared the ropes three times and struck eight boundaries. After an encouraging 50-run opening stand with Noah Cooper Llanes (37), the innings faltered slightly with a cluster of middle-order wickets.
Guy Fisher’s late cameo (25* off 12) brought the hosts tantalisingly close however 172 was just to much as Barrow finished on 168/5, just shy of the target. Vamshi Gowda was the pick of Bohemians’ attack with 2-21, while Kolluri, Andy, and R R each picked up key wickets to apply pressure through the middle overs.
