Saturday was a special day at Hobbs Lane as the club launched Barrow Gurney TV, with the help of our sponsors Audioistic, this will allow play from home games to be live streamed and watched at home or from the comfort of the Pavilion Bar. Players too will be able to scrutinise their techniques and enjoy looking back at the good, bad and hilarious moments which village cricket always brings.
With a full trial run having been successful, we look forward to being able to bring our supporters the chance to watch via Youtube. There is a link from our homepage to watch.
Sadly the cricket, a friendly against Blagdon, was less successful, with the Barrow batting line up struggling for form. Jason Cryans (17) was looking good before running himself out, Phil Milton (14) hit one into the adjoining gardens but only Guy Fisher used the opportunity to build an innings playing well for his 56 (109 balls, 1 six, 6 fours). Connor Jones added 18 at the end of the innings but Barrow’s 136 was never going to be enough.
Tight early spells from Mark Fisher (1/34) and Sam Mitchell were backed up by Guy Fisher (1/24) and Connor Jones (1/10), but after the 20 over mark passed Blagdon’s Adam Burroughs and James Roscow put on a match winning stand of 98 to take the visitors to a comfortable victory.
With the Sunday game against Harptree cancelled due to more rain coming in overnight, Barrow go into next weekend’s games with little match practice. The First XI are at home to Frenchay 2s whilst the Seconds venture to Pucklechurch 2s.
