Looking at the table before the game, it looked like it should have been potential win for Barrow, but things turned out very differently.
Mark Gracey lost the toss and YMCA chose to bat. The normal accuracy of Barrow’s bowling didn’t quite materialise and the safe hands in the field in recent weeks deserted them. YMCA made 206/9 off their 40 overs. Mike Lilley (2/24 off 9 overs) had the best figures, with Liam Moore taking 2/36 off 7 overs.
Still confident that Barrow had the batting to run down the total, Barrow set out to find that recent form they had had with the bat had also gone AWOL with the team being bowled out for a very disappointing 65. Kieran Owen top-scored with 18.
A wake-up call perhaps for Barrow who now need a couple of wins to ensure being candidates for promotion at the mid-season.
