Barrow Gurney CC Seek Volunteer To Relaunch Juniors

Barrow Gurney has a long tradition of welcoming and developing boy and girl cricketers to join its Cricket Club, being a small family village club which attracts players from all over North Somerset and south Bristol. In fact many of the senior players once played in the age group teams and have enjoyed playing cricket in the beautiful setting of the Hobbs Lane ground in a friendly atmosphere where all abilities are welcome and parents encouraged to come and support.

The club would like to relaunch the 8+ age group of the juniors and would like to hear from parents with children of that age who might be interested in helping to set up and run this section for the club. Although help would be available with coaching from senior players, the section would be under the control of the parent or parents willing to take on this new venture and help develop the cricketers of the future.

Like the fictional cricket club in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers, Barrow has invested in a new girls changing room, which will be ready for the 2018 season so that the growing number of girls who aspire to play cricket can be sure of good facilities as well as the boys!

Club Chairman, Peter Holdaway, would like to hear from anyone interested in helping with this exciting new venture. He can be contacted on 07929 002887 or by email on [email protected].
